California Pups

We’re making our way up and down the coast (quite literally) of California.  Los Angeles, Highway 1, San Francisco, Fresno, Yosemite, San Diego, then back to LAX to catch a red eye. Thankfully, we’re mid-trip and I got my dog fix for a few days while in San Francisco. Three friendly dogs at the pet photography workshop yesterday, then some playful pups on the beach in the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Leo was thrilled to have another person willing to throw the ball or frisbie for him.  And Connor was more than happy to oblige!

This is old man Gus. He was a little slow moving, but he sure enjoyed chasing after his ball! After a few catches, however, I noticed that he was equally content just hanging out on his beach blanket watching the waves roll in.

Osa is a spunky little Australian Cattle dog who was amazingly well trained and eager to please. She watched her person Jim so intently, waiting on his every word. It was obvious they had such a strong bond, and their interactions really caught my attention. Upon talking to Jim, I learned that he had waiting patiently for the day he could get a dog. In fact, he told me that he had waited 25 YEARS to be in a position in his life to be able to have a dog and give it the attention he wanted to. And it was clear to me that he wasn’t wasting any time catching up on all that “lost” time. It was such a pleasure to see the two of them together. And they are they every day, so you may happen to see them if you’re ever out at the Golden Gate National Park. If you do, please tell them I said “hello” and give Osa a hug for me!!

While they’re all great, I absolutely love the close up of Gus with the ball in his mouth looking straight at the camera. That one is simply beautiful.
