Bullied Breed

Kemo and Chula are perfect ambassadors for one of my favorite breeds – the American Pit Bull. And their mom, Sarah, is a prominent member of the local group, Good Deeds for Bullied Breeds, whose goal is to dispel harmful myths and stereotypes that characterize so-called “bully breeds” as vicious and lead to laws that punish responsible owners and their pets. The members of Good Deeds For Bullied Breeds take every opportunity to showcase their bullied breeds in hopes of encouraging friends and neighbors to judge each dog based on behavior, not on physical features. They wholeheartedly believe that discrimination, in every form, is wrong and hope that their group will be an example of responsible pet ownership in the hopes of achieving breed equality one day.

These two were some of the calmest, most well-behaved models I’ve had in my studio. It was a pleasure to photograph them, and an honor to help shed a positive light on the breed through imagery of these two gorgeous dogs.

Kemo.

I love this picture of Kemo leaning in to kiss Chula, followed by the image of their parents in a sweet embrace below. I was glad to have had the opportunity to photograph the entire family together before Steve was deployed to Iraq. He is already back in Fort Hood, Texas and will soon leave for another tour of duty in Iraq.

Be safe, Steve. Sending a heartfelt thank you to you, and to all the other brave men and woman in arms, for your service in protecting our country and our freedoms. And back here at home, a note of gratitude to Sarah as well, for standing up for the oppressed and working toward the dream of breed equality for all of our four-legged companions. You’re good people, and I’m honored to call you my friends.

I love this post and I obviously love this group! I have one of their pins stuck into the wall on my desk at work : )
